Verdion has further increased its presence in Germany to support continued pipeline and portfolio growth.
Former Verdion Chief Investment Officer and Mileway Germany Country Manager, Georg Starck, has come back to Verdion as Executive Consultant – Acquisitions Germany. He will focus on serving Verdion’s value-add and development investment strategies, particularly in stronger urban and edge of urban locations, advising and working closely with its in-house team of investment and technical specialists.
The investor, developer and asset manager is currently capital raising for its latest European logistics fund targeting a total of €400 million of equity, having already secured early closings and acquired its first asset. With capital to deploy, acquisition activity in this area is set to increase.
Michael Hughes, CEO of Verdion, said: “Georg returns to the business at an exciting time. From a strengthened platform, he will concentrate on securing select, new opportunities for differentiated assets on brownfield sites close to population centres across Germany. We also expect him to be involved in other new initiatives across the country. Above all, he is a very welcome addition as our team grows and we are delighted to be working with him again.”
Georg Starck added: “With accelerated obsolescence in many older buildings, there is potential not only to upgrade environmental performance, but to maximise space for new occupiers by leveraging Verdion’s technical expertise. It’s good to be supporting the Verdion team again and I’m looking forward to making new connections as well as renewing many longstanding contacts.”
This new consultant role follows the appointment of technical specialists Sarah Klein and Bartek Urbanowicz who joined the team in late 2023.
Verdion also maintains its capability in complex built to suit assets for manufacturing and production, light industrial, R&D and hazardous goods across a range of market sectors.
Starck originally joined Verdion in 2018 from Alpha Industrial GmbH, where he led a team of 20 employees as Commercial Director. Previously, he worked for Aareal Asset Management (now Schroders) and ING Real Estate (now CBRE Global Investors), among others. He was Country Manager Germany for Mileway from 2020 to 2023.
He will continue to co-run the Starck Foundation, which promotes the wellbeing of people, animals and nature through cross-generational, inclusive and needs-based projects that contribute to environmental and climate protection.
