Verdion is extending its development pipeline in Sweden’s logistics capital with the acquisition of a further brownfield site in Gothenburg.
The 44,000 sqm fully-zoned opportunity, which was sold by Corem Property Group, is part of an established industrial and logistics area in the city’s Backa submarket. It is located less than five minutes from the E6 motorway, with the E45 and E20 major routes close by and the Port of Gothenburg 6km away by road.
Verdion will now redevelop and maximise the brownfield site, speculatively developing 18,130 sq m of high-quality warehousing ready for occupation Q4 2025. The new facility will include office, welfare and mezzanine accommodation, with high levels of sustainability and flexibility throughout and targeting BREEAM Excellent. It can be leased as a whole or subdivided as desired to meet occupier requirements.
Fredrik Salman, Investment Manager – Nordics, at Verdion, said: “This is an ideal prospect for new urban logistics serving Gothenburg’s consumer markets. We know the area well: transport connections are outstanding and occupier demand outstrips current supply. Through redevelopment we will be adding considerable value to this asset, creating a high-quality sustainable building designed and specified for the needs of modern urban logistics businesses. Our investment and development pipeline in Sweden continues to grow and we intend to continue expanding our portfolio across the country.”
Verdion will shortly complete the development of 18,000 sq m of new distribution space in Bäckebol, Gothenburg, 5km from this latest acquisition.
Last month it secured a new urban logistics site in the Fosie industrial area of southeastern Malmö, planning to speculatively develop 28,000 sqm of high-quality urban logistics warehousing ready for Q2/3 2026.
